Fidaxomicin是大环内酯家族的主要类似物，该大环内酯家族分别从三个不同属（猕猴桃属，Dactylosporangium和微单孢菌属）的三个不同组别分离，分别被称为利比霉素A3，头孢菌素B和梭菌素B1。非达霉素是一种窄谱抗生素，对革兰氏阳性细菌特别是艰难梭菌具有极好的活性。非达霉素在胃肠道中起作用而不会过度破坏肠道微生物菌群。
