IWP-3是Wnt产生的抑制剂。在体外阻断Wnt途径的活性（IC 50 = 40 nM）。IWP-3使豪猪（Porcn）失活，豪猪（Porcn）是一种膜结合的O-酰基转移酶，负责棕榈酸化Wnt蛋白，这对于其信号传导能力和分泌至关重要。通过阻断Wnt信号传导，IWP-3已被用于促进人类胚胎干细胞（EC??= 1.2μM）产生心肌细胞。
